More About Diatomite
Diatomite, also known as diatomaceous earth, is the naturally-occurring fossilized remains of diatoms, which are single-celled aquatic algae. Diatomite is a highly pure sedimentary deposit consisting almost entirely of silica.

How is Diatomite formed?
When diatoms die, their external cell wall layer (composed almost purely of silica) sink and deposit onto the sediment surface of the ocean or lake bed. When the sediment layer has accumulated a significant amount of diatomite deposits in sufficient thickness and purity, they lithify into rocks overtime - diatomite is formed.
What are the benefits of using home products made of Diatomite?
-
Natural - It is a naturally-occurring mineral; eco-friendly.
-
High Absorption - Via capillary action, deep penetration into its pore matrix.
-
Quick-Drying - Deep penetration into bottom layer allows surface to be dry rapidly.
-
Heat Insulator - It is resistant to high levels of heat.
-
Anti-Bacterial - Because of absence of moisture, bacteria is unable to grow.
-
Anti-Slip - Its abrasive property allows for a good grip of the contacted surface.
